Pershore Civic Society Member Mark Axtell Powell presented the Society’s President John Alexander with a copy of “3, Bridge Street, Pershore: Tulips and Duellists” a book commissioned by Mark to record the social history of this prominent Grade 2 listed Georgian Townhouse which he is painstakingly restoring for clients in Pershore. The book is a fascinating history of the prominent building which until recently had been the Pershore Branch of Barclays Bank. The book has been lovingly compiled for Mark by Mike Napthan and Alison Wragg.

“I was particularly pleased to meet Mark and receive a copy of the book on behalf of the Pershore Civic Society” said John. “My father worked for Barclays Bank in this building and he would be fascinated to see the great job that Mark is doing”.
“It’s a privilege to be working on a project of this nature. The building’s structure speaks of centuries of adaptation and change and so I wanted Alison and Mike to concentrate on the social change also witnessed at 3, Bridge Street” said Mark.
The book will be kept in the Civic Society’s archives.
